"I am disgusted at the Government's attempts to classify 20% of the population as disabled and thereby needing Nanny Helen and her patronising bureaucrats to 'remove barriers' for them," says Libertarianz Leader Peter Cresswell.

"The Disability Strategy is primarily about enslaving all New Zealanders, not about removing barriers to the disabled. "

"It implies that disability is the fault of EVERYONE, because we don't have all houses with ramp access, all publications in braille and university degrees for the severely mentally handicapped. This doublespeak masks the legitimacy of all individuals having the same rights to their body and property, and the illegitimacy of government control over them."

"The best, moral strategy for disabled people is to stop taxing them, stop telling them how to run their lives or regulating the businesses they set up or work in, but most of all provide a transition to remove them from dependency on compulsorily funded welfare. "

"The Government's strategy is about dependence; it is about making disability everyone else's fault. Further, Nanny State is then to chastise us, order us about and tax us in the process of imposing its politically correct vision for 20% of the population."

"Capitalism has done more for disabled people than any state programmes -with technologies for communication such as email, transport, educational resources and ever increasing advances in healthcare vastly reducing the limitations many disabilities impose on people".

"It is these advances that remove barriers and enable opportunities, not Helen Clark trying to tell us that a severely mentally handicapped person can have the same opportunities as the brightest if only the Government could tax and spend and regulate us all into conformity" he concluded.
