Greens Should 'Save Rail' By Keeping Out Of Koru Clubs
"If Green MPs Sue Kedgley and Rod Donald really want to 'Save Rail,' they should get out of their Koru Club Lounges and use the rail services they want everyone else to pay for, rather than forcing others to pay for something they never use," says Libertarianz Leader Peter Cresswell.
"Sue Kedgley is observed far too often in Koru Club Lounges to be seriously interested in rail services for anything other than cynical photo opportunities. As usual," says Cresswell, "the hypocrisy of these self-serving politicians is all too evident."
"Green MPs and assorted local body politicians have suddenly discovered that the rail services none of them use are 'vital to the wellbeing of their communities.' If they are so vital," says Cresswell, "then may I suggest Ms Kedgley, Mr Donald, and their sundry supporters meaningfully demonstrate their support by getting off their respective taxpayer and ratepayer-funded arses and regularly patronise these 'vital services' themselves."
Cresswell also suggests that "bus companies that would have to compete with subsidised rail services should be outraged at the suggestion that they should fund their competitors at the behest of Kedgley and Donald."
Cresswell concluded: "Quite simply, the people who think these services matters should use them or face losing them. Central and local government should abandon any plans to fund long distance passenger rail services using other people's money."
It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
