Employers question Bathgate's suitability for Tribunal role
Susan Bathgate's actions have undermined her ability to continue to hold the position as head of the Complaints Review Tribunal, the Employers & Manufacturers (Northern) says.
"As Tribunal head Ms Bathgate rules on the actions of employers whose employees bring claims against them for alleged breaches of the Human Rights Act 1993," said Peter Tritt, EMA's Manager of Advisory Services.
"Employers are entitled to expect the role to be held by a person whose credibility and integrity are beyond question.
"Employers have reason now to treat any decision she makes in judgement upon them with less respect than the office deserves.
"It is not credible for Labour Minister Margaret Wilson to try and sweep the matter under the carpet because of Ms Bathgate's resignation as a member of the Employment Relations Authority."
