Leading US Drug Policy Experts To Visit New Zealand
The Coalition for Cannabis Law Reform is pleased to announce the upcoming visit to New Zealand of Dr Ethan Nadelmann and Dr Marsha Rosenbaum, two leading US drug policy experts and directors of the Lindesmith Centre-Drug Policy Foundation.
They will be in New Zealand from the 9th to the 13th of December 2001 at the invitation of the Coalition for Cannabis Law Reform, and will be meeting with a range of Government Ministries and Departments, Ministers, MP's and NGO's.
Dr Nadelmann is the executive director of the Lindesmith Centre-Drug Policy Foundation and is an internationally respected high profile commentator on U.S. and international drug control policies. His critiques of U.S. drug control policies and recommendations regarding harm reduction strategies and other alternatives to punitive drug prohibition have attracted international attention and played a decisive role in stimulating the growing debate over drug policy worldwide.
Dr Marsha Rosenbaum is a leading US drug education expert, medical sociologist and director of the San Francisco office of the Lindesmith Centre-Drug Policy Foundation. Dr Rosenbaum has Co-chaired international conferences on drug education and was the principal researcher for 10 grants funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse between 1977 and 1995.
The Lindesmith Centre-Drug Policy Foundation is a drug policy organisation working to broaden and better inform the public debate on drug policy and related issues. It was created in 1994 with the assistance of billionaire philanthropist George Soros and is the leading independent drug policy institute in the United States.
