~ 21 April - ‘See no evil’ - an extract from Jo Luping’s documentary about a year in her sister Di Luping’s life. Di, a New Zealander, works for LAW (the Palestinian NGO founded in 1990 by a group of Palestinian lawyers to promote human rights and further the principles of the rule of law, and to defend Palestinian rights in accordance with international human rights law and United Nations declarations). This extract follows Di to the UN Conference on Racism and Xenophobia (Durban, South Africa, 2002), features the Landless Peoples’ March, and will be screened on Asia Down Under, 8-30am, on TV1.

~ ongoing to 22 April - 'New century, old battles: an activist response to globalisation, war and the election', national speaking tour by Murray Horton, organiser for the Campaign Against Foreign Control of Aotearoa (CAFCA). ~ SAT, 20 April - Whangarei Coalition for Peace demonstration with a range of activities for citizens to show their lack of support for the NZ Government's cosying up to the USA in their War. The specific focus for the Mall activities is the Palestinian conflict and the link to the proposed USA strike on Iraq; from 11am to 1pm in Cameron Street Mall, all supporters welcome to help with activities! ~ SAT, 20 April - International Day of Action to Stop Racism and End War Rally - on this day people in the US will converge on Washington DC to oppose the war in the Middle East and to demand that US foreign policy is based on social and economic justice, not military and corporate oppression, an end to racial profiling and secret imprisonment of immigrants; 12 noon at the US Consulate, Custom Street East, in solidarity with the International Day of Action.
