Christian Heritage Party On Friday's Election Special

Prominent women's advocate Merepeka Raukawa-Tait will represent the Christian Heritage Party on this Friday's (26/4/02) edition of NGA TINO POUTAMA.

National Maori language radio service Ruia Mai is broadcasting a weekly bilingual political special in the lead-up to this year's general election.

Hosted by Ruia Mai political reporter and editor Shane Taurima, NGA TINO POUTAMA gives political parties and groups the opportunity to promote their strategies and policies for Maori, to Maori.

Mrs Raukawa-Tait, who will be live in Ruia Mai's Auckland studio with her husband and Maori language spokesperson, Theo Tait, is the deputy leader of the Christian Heritage Party. She is also the party's spokeswomen for social services and Maori affairs, and will stand in the Wairarapa electorate.

The one-hour political specials are broadcast between 10am and 11am every Friday and include political representatives from the parties speaking in both English and Maori; and questions and answers with the host. Calls are taken from listeners around the country on 0800 462 747 between approximately 10:30am and 10:50am.

Listeners can also tune in on the Internet via the website www.ruiamai.co.nz and the show will be replayed every Monday night between 5:05pm and 6pm. Compact disc recordings of the programmes are available from Ruia Mai at a nominal cost and orders can be placed with vanessab@ruiamai.co.nz.

The other shows in NGA TINO POUTAMA include: Act (Friday, May 31); Greens (Friday, May 10); NZ First (Friday, May 17); Budget Special Only (Friday, May 17); Alliance - Sandra Lee (Friday, May 31); Alliance - Laila Harre/Willie Jackson (Friday, June 7); National (Friday, June 14); Labour (Friday, June 21); and Political Wrap (Friday, June 28).

The political specials are available to the iwi radio network and are also broadcast on Ruia Mai's frequency in Auckland, 1179AM.
