Kyoto Obsession Means Higher Petrol Prices

"Motorists will pay a lot more for petrol because of the Labour/Alliance coalition's obsession with Green politics by applying a carbon tax when there is little evidence that there even is an enhanced greenhouse effect" announced Libertarianz Leader and Tauranga Candidate Russell Watkins today.

"Carbon taxes to reduce traffic growth will have to be high as most journeys are considered essential, and this will be more money in the greedy hands of politicians. This is while the government continues to take over 18c a litre in tax from petrol for the consolidated fund, in addition to the amount that goes on roads and GST."

"I urge voters this year to remember that a vote for Labour, Alliance and the Greens is a vote for higher petrol tax to pay for ill conceived such as Kiwibank, Maori TV, Pacific Island radio and more bureaucracy".

"Only a vote for Libertarianz is a vote to eliminate all petrol tax except, for the time being, that component necessary to pay Transfund for roading. That would mean a cut in petrol prices of over 20c a litre. Now that is something that would truly benefit families and businesses across the country" Watkins concluded.

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
