'Silly' Idea Becomes A Matter Of Life And Death
"Last year the Minister of Finance, Michael Cullen, called the idea of tax rebates for those with private health insurance 'silly', " observes Libertarianz spokesman for the deregulation of Health, Dr Richard McGrath."The considerable rise in the cost of health insurance for the elderly will mean many will cancel their policies. The strain this will place on the public health system could very well be the last nail in it's coffin."
"And good riddance to it when it finally falls over," McGrath says. "In the meantime more and more people are going to die waiting for operations which they have probably paid for over and over during their working lives. The only way to end this intolerable mess is to let people keep their own money to spend on their health needs as they see fit," McGrath says.
"Would anybody willingly hand over their credit card to a stranger to purchase services on their behalf? Of course not. But this is what we do everyday by giving governments carte blanche with our hard-earned tax."
"Libertarianz are the only party that can see this folly for what it is. We believe health should be privatised but in the meantime Mr Cullen might like to revise his condemnation of tax rebates as a 'silly' idea. He is now looking at a matter of life or death."
"It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!"
