Prime Minister Helen Clark will promote Labour's policies for Maori, to Maori, on tomorrow's (21/6/02) edition of NGA TINO POUTAMA.

National Maori language radio service Ruia Mai has been broadcasting the weekly bilingual political special since April 19 in the lead-up to this year's general election.

Hosted by Ruia Mai political editor Shane Taurima, NGA TINO POUTAMA has given the main political parties the opportunity to promote their strategies and policies for Maori.

Labour Party leader Helen Clark and Maori Affairs Minister Parekura Horomia will both participate in tomorrow's show by phone while Te Tai Hauauru MP Nanaia Mahuta will join Mr Taurima live in Ruia Mai's Auckland studio.

In the final instalment of NGA TINO POUTAMA next Friday, June 28, political commentators Professor Ranginui Walker and senior university lecturer Ngahuia Dixon will summarise the parties' policies.

NGA TINO POUTAMA is broadcast between 10am and 11am every Friday and includes political representatives speaking in both English and Maori as well as questions and answers with the host.

Calls are taken from listeners around the country on 0800 462 747 between approximately 10:30am and 10:50am.

Listeners can also tune in on the Internet via the website www.ruiamai.co.nz and the show will be replayed every Monday night between 5:05pm and 6pm.

NGA TINO POUTAMA is funded by New Zealand On Air and Te Mangai Paho.

It is available to the iwi radio network and is also broadcast on Ruia Mai's frequency in Auckland, 1179AM.

The Ngati Whatua station is part of Mai Media Limited which operates Auckland's top radio station, Mai FM 88.6.
