ACT's Medical Money-Laundering
"The diversion of taxpayer money into the hands of private hospitals represents a significant compromise of ACT's core values," said Libertarianz health deregulation spokesman Richard McGrath. "These values include the protection of individual freedom and enforcement of property rights, to which ACT pay lip-service but which the Libertarianz Party hold sacred."
"Richard Prebble and Ken Shirley want to launder the proceeds of this country's biggest extortion racket through the coffers of this country's private hospitals and into the pockets of their shareholders," said the Masterton doctor, responding to ACT's health policy. "The country's biggest extortion racket is that administered by the IRD and overseen by the Minister of Finance - taxation," clarifies McGrath. "ACT don't object to this extortion, they simply want to decide who the beneficiaries should be."
He continued: "It is sad that a party that promised so much has strayed so far from its stated principles. ACT appear to be standing some quality candidates, but voters should ask themselves whether they are still a vehicle for classical liberal ideas."
"Libertarianz believes patients should be given free rein to manage their own budget without 'help' from the IRD, politicians and other parasites," said Dr McGrath. "ACT, in common with the left-wing coalition which will govern New Zealand after July 27, want to keep these bloodsuckers on life-support courtesy of the taxpayer.
"Libertarianz, alone among the parties on offer at this election, advocate pulling the plug on the inefficient, oppressive, dictatorial public-health system by making the IRD give working people their stolen money back.
"People should be allowed to purchase whatever level of health-care they want for themselves and their families, and not be forced to fund one-size-fits-all socialised medical care. The public health system should be gently but firmly wound up, its assets sold, and the private sector permitted to meet the demand of consumers in its own way."
Libertarianz are standing electorate candidates in Tauranga, Wellington Central, New Plymouth, Hamilton West and Whangarei.
