Painted Apple Moth Aerial Operation Over For Today
The extended aerial operation against the painted apple moth is over for today with about half of the 8,500 hectare zone completed. The three aircraft - a Fokker Friendship, a small, fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter - stopped operations at 11.15am today
Weather permitting there is about two hours of flying left for the Fokker Friendship and the light plane will complete the remaining area in about five hours.
Robert Isbister, general manager, painted apple moth, says: “We are pleased the good weather this morning allowed us to complete a good portion of the zone on the first scheduled date.”
A decision whether the operation will go ahead tomorrow (Tuesday, 3 December) will be made at approximately 4.30 am tomorrow morning.
