Will 'Banksy' Overturn Petty Fascism?

Will 'Banksy' Overturn Petty Fascism?

Stephen Berry, Libertarianz Spokesman, today expressed his disgust at the way the Auckland City Council takes defacto ownership over anything it pleases. The First Church of Christ Scientist building on Symonds Street has been on the real estate market since November 1999. "Obviously this is due to the Heritage protection order placed on the property," Stephen Berry said. "I wouldn't think of buying a property that was virtually controlled by the state either."

Due to the classification the Council has decided to give the property, a resource consent must be granted for any modifications to be made inside or outside of the building. Sarah Pocklington, who rejoices in the title 'Council Planning Technician,' says: "It is a scheduled item under the district plan. The interior is also scheduled." In response, Berry says, "every single parasite in the Council, permitting this to happen should be hanging their heads in shame. When a Government permits property to be held privately, but not for owners to control the property they own, then they are quite literallly fascist. This is what happens when a majority is able to dictate law to the minority."

Berry challenges Auckland City Mayor John Banks to overturn the fascist decision, but holds no expectation of any change. "John Banks was an enthusiastic member of the National Government that brought in the Resource Management Act (RMA), which has been shredding property rights now for decade. Why would he overturn an act of fascism that the RMA has empowered?" asks Berry.

The Libertarianz spokesman maintains his absolute opposition to Government interference on private property, when use of such property does not violate the rights of others. "Citizens need to stand up to Government and make it clear exactly who owns the land. With exception of a beleaguered minority, there is currently a general complacency amongst property owners - a complacency that will eventuate in state domination over all property." The Libertarianz party resist this, saying they will eliminate the Resource Management Act which empowers this domination, allowing property owners to use their land as they please. "Quite simply, if it isn't violating anyone else's right to life, liberty and property, then it isn't any of Nanny State's business."
