Copeland's Power Should Be Banned!

"Gordon Copeland's comments that the Prostitution Reform Bill will 'exploit young women for sordid monetary gain' are of a piece with the views of his United Dark-ages political party," says Libertarianz Spokesman Russell Watkins. "In my view," continues Watkins, "it is not prostitution that should be illegal, but the political power to ban the free actions of consenting adults; THAT should be made illegal," he says, "so that people like Copeland will be unable to force their puritan mystical beliefs on the rest of us."

"Copeland has been watching to many cheap T.V. shows," says Watkins, "rather than doing proper research. Copeland claims that 'prostitutes work on commission so that their bosses can line up the latest Mercedes Benz, dress well, and generally live the life of Riley.' Watkins says he has "news for authoritarian Copeland. During a photo shoot/interview for The Free Radical magazine, I met numerous 'working girls' who were quite happy doing what they do, who did not feel exploited, who in fact said that they sometimes felt they were exploiting the men. They remained free to leave their place of employ at any time if they wished - they just didn't wish to. To top it off, two of these girls were driving brand new Commodores, and dressed extraordiarily well," said Mr Watkins waving the Free Radical in question. "I have never met Riley, but I'd wager he never lived as well as these girls."

"Prostitution involves two things," points out Watkins in conclusion. "Free trade, and sex. Copeland's United Future seems to disagree with both. His blustering is just another attempt by the religionist moral minority to force their will on everyone else. The only ban that should be talked about in this country is a ban on politicians from taking away peaceful peoples freedom, only then will we (including prostitutes) be safe," concludes Watkins.
