Lifestyle change benefits Parents Centre

From Parents Centre New Zealand Inc. For immediate release

Lifestyle change benefits Parents Centre.

"The commercial world's loss is most definitely our gain." said Parents Centres New Zealand's President, Sharron Cole, in announcing the appointment of Vivienne Gurrey as the national organisation's new Chief Executive Officer.

Until recently Mrs. Gurrey was the New Zealand Chief Executive Officer of SAP. She made the international computer corporate a household name in New Zealand by putting its logo on the spinnaker of Team New Zealand, and turned a loss making organisation into the most profitable in the industry during a time of flat growth for the info tech sector.

Mrs. Gurrey retired from SAP early this year to spend more time with her family. Her career with SAP meant excessively long periods overseas, away from her lifestyle block home and two children.

"Parents Centre is the ideal move for me," said Mrs. Gurrey. "It allows me to both contribute to a socially valuable organisation which is in complete alignment with my own values and philosophy, and personally attain a good balance of work and family. The modern work environment is putting huge pressure on families and we need to ensure that we achieve balance, as individuals, parents and as a society. This issue is one of many that Parents Centre has been contributing to and I am looking forward to being a strong advocate for the strengthening of the role of parents in society."

Parents Centre is New Zealand's largest parenting organisation with almost 8,000 members operating out of 54 centres. Last year it provided ante natal training to over 9,000 expectant mothers and education to over 5,000 parents.
