Te Mangai Paho Review Concluded
Te Mangai Paho (TMP) Chairman Wira Gardiner announced today that the performance review of TMP Chief Executive Trevor Moeke was now complete, and concluded that in his handling of the Slightly Offbeat Productions matters, Mr Moeke had acted professionally throughout.
"Unfortunately however, Mr Moeke has become the focal point for negative publicity which is impacting on him and Te Mangai Paho.
"Because of this publicity, Mr Moeke has determined that his continuing as CE is not in the interests of TMP or Maori Broadcasting generally. Accordingly, despite being contracted for a further 2 ½ years, he intends to stand down as Chief Executive, effective immediately," said Mr Gardiner.
Mr Gardiner said that at his request Mr Moeke had agreed to assist the Board with various projects for the next nine months.
"On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Trevor for the significant contribution he has made to Maori broadcasting over the last three years. I look forward to continuing to work with him over the next nine months and wish him well for his future.
"Trevor has always worked for Maori advancement in a number of sectors and I have no doubt that he will continue to play an important role in the advancement of Maori interests in the years to come," he said.
Herewini Te Koha, who has been assisting the Board during Mr Moeke's leave, has agreed to be acting as chief executive.
