Ongoing In-Your-Face Daylight Robbery

Ongoing In-Your-Face Daylight Robbery

Ever wondered about the future of work? Labour's Employment Minister Steve Maharey has - and Libertarianz Health Deregulation spokesman Richard Goode has watched his deliberations with some contempt. "Last week," notes Goode, "Maharey launched 'Work Trends,' a new publication from the Department of Labour's 'Future of Work' programme. At the same time, Maharey announced funding for six - yes, count 'em, six - new research projects to help 'advance what New Zealanders know about the future of work'."

"It's yet another colossal waste of taxpayers' money from our spendthrift Labour-led coalition government," says Goode. "It's obvious what the future of work will be under Labour - we'll all have to labour longer and harder as the government throws more and more of our money at inane research projects like these." Goode points out that one person from every couple already goes to work simply to pay their partnership's tax bill, and he suggests this will get even worse as Labour beds in for another term of tax-and-spend.

"Under Labour, taxation is more than mere theft - it's daylight robbery," says Goode, who claims they're getting away with it while a 'cretinous Opposition' fans hysteria over consenting adults voluntarily exchanging money for drugs. "Bloody politicians!" he exclaims. "One side with their hands upside our pay slips, and the other too busy politicking to even raise an eyebrow about the ongoing in-your-face theft of millions of dollars from ordinary working New Zealanders."

"Only last month, Labour Minister Margaret Wilson announced the setting up of an 'inter-agency steering group' to 'develop and co-ordinate policies' that promote 'work-life balance'. Wonderful! Labour's partner in crime, Matt Robson of the Progressive Coalition, opined that 'There needs to be a balance between work and the enjoyment of life outside work.' What wisdom! Well," concludes Goode, "with hands like Wilson's, Robson's, and Cullen's in our pockets, it's becoming progressively harder to strike that balance. It's hard to maintain any sort of 'work-life balance' when bastards like you are taxing the stuffing out of poor saps like us!"
