Children's day offers a time to chill-out

Children's day offers a time to chill-out with the kids
25 October 2003

"Children's day on Sunday 26 October is an opportunity for parents to reflect on their parenting, and to take the time to enjoy their children," said Parents Centre NZ CEO, Viv Gurrey.

"Sometimes we are too busy providing for our day to day needs that we forget the simple pleasures of beaching combing, bush walking, backyard cricket, story-telling, cooking, hide'n' seek in the parking - whatever it is that makes us laugh and love our children," Mrs Gurrey said.

"We are fortune amongst nations that we have so many open spaces and playgrounds to enjoy with our children. The beaches, the mountains, the rivers, and the parks are ours to share and enjoy. Parents Centre NZ urges all parents to take the time to commit to having some good old-fashioned fun with their kids."

"Love and enjoy them, watch over and look out for them; and learn from them," added Mrs Gurrey.

"Remember the simple pleasures of joyful curiosity and vigorous play. Let's all celebrate and show our children the respect they deserve."

end.
