GE Free Canterbury To Target Labour Conference
GE Free Canterbury To Target Labour Party Conference
Saturday Nov. 8, 2.00 pm, Bridge of Remembrance
GE Free Canterbury are taking their concerns regarding the lifting of the GE moratorium to the Labour Party this weekend. It will be part of a coalition of groups planning to protest outside the party’s annual conference being held at the Convention Centre this Saturday, 8 November.
“The Labour Party have ignored the people of New Zealand by lifting the moratorium on GE, but they still have the power to reinstate the moratorium and work towards the best interests of New Zealanders” spokesperson Melanie White said.
“The campaign for a GE Free Canterbury and a GE Free New Zealand is far from over. Being in the protest at the Labour Party conference is just part of our ongoing campaign which includes lobbying our city council, encouraging people to register their property GE Free, and boycotting GE foods and companies.”
The
protest is to start with a march from the Bridge of
Remembrance at 2pm, followed by a rally at the Convention
Centre.
