Christian Heritage Nz Not Contesting By-Election

Christian Heritage NZ will not be contesting the Te Tai Hauauru by-election. After the CHNZ National Board made the decision, party leader Ewen McQueen said the by-election was a distraction from the real issues facing New Zealand families. He stated.

“At a time when hundreds of thousands of New Zealand children are suffering abuse, abandonment or abortion, giving so much attention to the foreshore and seabed issue displays a flawed sense of priorities. Concern for our children must rate higher than arguments about who owns a bit of mud under the tide.”

The CHNZ leader went on to say that rebuilding a culture that affirms marriage, builds strong families and celebrates life as the gift of God, must become the prime focus of political concern and action. Only when this happened would all New Zealand children be able to grow up in secure homes, ready to contribute to making our nation an even better place to live. He commented,

“The land is important, but the people are more important – especially our children. At the moment they urgently need the full attention of all our political leaders.”
