'Destiny Won't Bend to Labour Intimidation'

Mr David Benson-Pope's un-factual attack on Destiny Church represents a new era in political intimidation and a relentless pursuit by this Government to undermine the time-honoured institution of marriage in our society.

"It is clear that under the Labour Government New Zealander's do not have the right to publicly disagree with their agenda. If you do, you'll be branded intolerant and hateful - a 'hater and a wrecker'," said Destiny NZ Leader, Richard Lewis.

The Aotea Square event referred to by Mr Benson-Pope was attended by more than 2,000 people, which comprised of grandparents, parents, adults, teenagers and children - the average kiwi standing for traditional family values and the wellbeing of children. By all accounts, including that of the police, it was a peaceful and very well managed event.

The seven children referred to by Mr Benson-Pope were part of a 250 strong national kapa haka team (which represents over 130 Iwi and Hapu). It is deliberately misleading to say that children were bussed from school to this event, which remember, occurred on a Saturday.

"Shouldn't Labour be more concerned about 12 year old prostitutes on the streets from Northland to Christchurch since they introduced their Prostitution Bill? And what about their endeavour to legalise sex between 12-year-old children and legislating abortions without parental knowledge and consent."

"These attacks on Destiny are a diversion from the realities of reckless legislation that blatantly undermines the wellbeing of our children," Lewis added.

Mr Lewis will be one of the keynote speakers at the 'Enough is Enough' Mass Gathering at the grounds of Parliament on Monday 23rd August at 12.30pm. Other speakers include Trevor Yaxley [Lifeway Ministries], Pastor Paul de Jong [Christian Life Centre Auckland], Ewen McQueen [CHNZ], Pastor Tavale Matai'a [Word of Life], and Pastor Brian Tamaki [Destiny Churches].
