Cannabis Cure From The Greens
GreenCross Medicinal Cannabis Support Group of NZ Inc. congratulates the Green Party for its efforts to bring some sanity to our current drug policy, which does little if anything to reduce harm and improve society as a whole.
Common sense dictates that drug policy must be based on evidence and not politics. It seems the Green Party is the only political party supporting harm reduction across the board. New Zealand doctors are increasingly supportive of their patients' desire to medicate with cannabis in many situations. In a rather bizarre dereliction of responsibility we leave such a choice to our politicians, not the medical experts, and the majority have decided it is better to survive politically than act responsibly.
The Labour - United Future "no cannabis law change" deal is a prime example of self-serving politics ahead of what is best for all of us. This has lead to people dying of cancer going without cannabis or education on how best to take that cannabis. Elderly people in pain who desperately wish to try cannabis are being left to suffer.
Hepatitis C sufferers are left to live a life of uncontrollable nausea. The truth is while we have much cannabis in New Zealand, the majority of sick and ailing people either cannot afford daily medical supply at black market prices or are afraid due to the current failed legal status of cannabis. If they can source some, then education on how to obtain the most desirable results is often not available.
Congratulations must go to the Green Party. Maybe one day soon we will not have to tell the elderly lady who is crying out for cannabis to help with crippling back pain that our morals are lacking and we are going to let her suffer.
