Baloney, Bradford!

Green MP, Sue Bradford, commenting on an OECD report recommending a cut to the DPB rate, said today, "The OECD report is a disgrace. There’s no evidence at all that solo parents lack the will to find work.”

Lindsay Mitchell, petitioner for a Parliamentary review of the DPB responded to Bradford, "The evidence is under your nose. Right now, there are around 37,000 sole parents with school age children only, who still rely totally on the DPB for their income."

"How hard can it be getting these parents into a part-time job? Why don't you show us the evidence that these people DO want a job?"

"According to the International Labour Organization New Zealanders are working longer hours than almost any other developed nation. Is it any wonder, when huge sections of the population don't want to pull their weight."

"Sue Bradford should stop being an apologist for unemployed single parents and start worrying about the example they are setting for their children."
