The Relationships Bill

Garnet Milne www.reformationtestimony.org.nz

The relationships bill and child sexual molestation.

A study in the US has found that homosexuals were involved in a staggering 34% of sexual molestations of foster children. The study was conducted over a six year period in Illinois in the United States and revealed these disturbing statistics among foster parents. Even though only 3 percent claim to be homosexual in the US, about one third of the offending foster parents, in this study, were homosexuals.

Paul Cameron, whose findings were reported in the March issue of Psychological Reports, believes that these Illinois figures would reflect the same proportions of molesting foster parents in the rest of the US. Marjory Newman of the DCFS fostering organisation told the Illinois Leader that their organisation did not make distinctions between homosexual and heterosexual. According to a report in World Net Daily, She said "We track our foster and adoptive parents on the basis of their being single or married. That's it."

World Net Daily also reported that “The study found 966 foster parents violated their charges. Of those who engaged in both physical and sexual abuse, eight of the 15 abused children of their own sex” Before the Relationships bill goes ahead, responsible politicians would surely now need to sponsor a similar study in New Zealand in light of these disturbing statistics in Illinois.

While the homosexual community attacks Cameron and other professionals who do not tell them what they want to hear, there should be sufficient concerns raised in this study to at least have parliament consider the implications, if such statistics were replicated here in New Zealand.

The Relationships bill will entrench a ‘right’ of same-sex couples to foster vulnerable children. This study in the US is sufficiently worrying to require that the Relationship (statutory references) bill go on hold until we have had time to conduct a similar survey here.
