Biblical retribution posited for PM's plane blip

Civil Unions – God will not be mocked

While inspired prophecy has now ceased in the Church, one does not have to be a prophet to predict the likely outcome of the first same-sex civil unions in New Zealand. Homosexuality is notorious for the practice of infidelity and promiscuity with the resultant broken relationships.

Indeed, this is one of the reasons why AIDS does not go away, but claims the lives of more and more homosexuals. Tim Barnett recently said that opponents to civil unions should not be threatened by this counterfeit to marriage. The plain facts are that no one feels threatened personally by civil unions, but what is under attack is the stability and integrity of society itself. One of the truths rejected by the neo-pagan worldview which has given us homosexual civil-unions is that there are consequences to moral actions.

God does indeed condemn ethical opinions and acts which are contrary to His divine prescription. For example, He speaks through the psalmist “The wicked[…]are like chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish” (Ps. 1:4-6). There is the consequence of God’s judgement on evil, which will come upon all those who reject Him and His counsel.

That judgement often occurs in the present. The Prophet Amos, said in his own day that God would send a famine, but it was to be a famine of the Word of God(Amos 8:11). In other words, the preaching of the true Gospel would be limited and suppressed. Such a famine is a great curse on any society.

Not only does the Gospel or good news about Jesus Christ teach the way of salvation, but it also teaches how society should live before the Creator and Redeemer. When the Gospel is suppressed, the morality of the Bible is also overturned by a godless society. The end result of this process is never pretty. It includes judgements such as plagues, evident in our own day in the ravages of AIDs especially amongst homosexuals, but not limited to that population. Sometimes God is gracious towards a society that has degenerated as far as our own, and He warns us of our dire end in His acts of Providence.

The Prime Minister, one of the vocal supporters of homosexual civil unions, received such a warning in a recent plane trip where she feared for her life. Instead of announcing her good luck, she should turn to God in Christ in repentance and faith. God will not be mocked. Unless He graciously grants revival and reformation to our land, His Daniels can only foresee His judgement.
