This Friday Destiny's Youth Development Trust Director, Caine Warren, is preparing to enrol another 400 eager young people New Zealand wide for 'Absolute Abstinence, the only national programme supporting abstinence from sex before marriage.
"Our first six months has been a huge success, with 196 of the 203 young people maintaining their pledge of abstinence.
We have just finished seven weeks of sex education, for the latest group of young people and their parents with abstinence as the goal. The program culminates this Friday with a ceremony involving friends and family", says Mr Warren.
'Absolute Abstinence' combines a positive education component with parental and peer support. The pledge of abstinence is symbolized by a diamond ring worn by the individual as a symbol of their commitment.
"The great thing is these kids will not have their potential jeopardised by one careless decision that has a lifetime of consequences. We equip them to handle the challenges and pressures that young people face in the areas of sex, drugs and alcohol", he added.
The ceremony commences at 7.00pm on Friday and will he held at Destiny Church at 18 Allright Place in Mt Wellington, Auckland.
The event will be broadcast live to the world from Destiny Churches website, www.destinychurch.org.nz and involve young people from 10 cities who are participating in the simultaneous ceremony.
