"Standing for Families in Whakatane - Destiny New Zealand"

Destiny New Zealand leader Richard Lewis presented the party's policies and organisation to nearly 500 locals at the Memorial Hall in Whakatane last night.

"Destiny New Zealand policies have a foundation base of 'family' - you cannot separate the family from social and economic issues as they are intricately related", he said.

As a former Police Sergeant he used the party's Law and Order Policy as an example.

"Our reactive measures, based on where our community is at, include increasing police numbers and resources, establishing a national strategy to attack organised crime and the drug trade epidemic. But hese measures are only half the package. Our ultimate aim is to restore strength to the family unit, thereby fostering the disciplines of justice and respect for self, people and property where life begins; in the home", he said.

Destiny New Zealand candidates Bill Saddler (East Coast), Roberta Maxwell (BOP) and Hawea Vercoe (Waiariki) also made stirring contributions at the event.

On Wednesday Mr Lewis joins Bishop Tamaki in Gisborne for a public meeting at the Whare Wananga O Aotearoa Auditorium at 7.30pm, 630 Childers Road - Gisborne.
