Smokefree Coalition giving cannabis green light?

Cannabis contains no toxins or carcinogens, does not cause respiratory problems and poses no physical health risks for smokers and for those exposed to second hand cannabis smoke.

Cannabis is not a psychoactive drug and smoking cannabis does not impair ones ability to drive a motor vehicle or operate machinery.

This is the message the Coalition’s Leigh Sturgiss appears to be sending, given her failing to condemn publicly, Green MP Nandor Tanczos’ push to have cannabis partially decriminalised.

“Sturgiss jumps in at every opportunity to slam tobacco, tobacco smoking and tobacco companies”, says WIN Party leader John van Buren, “but to date we’ve been greeted by a ‘deathly silence’ over the cannabis smoking health issue”.

“The Smokefree Coalition receives government funding for its public awareness campaigns and is compelled to expose all health related risks arising from all forms of smoking”.

“Taxpayers demand for groups like the Coalition to remain free of political manipulation, influence and interference and never to act as a propaganda tool for a current government”.

“Scientific and medical data that Sturgiss continually relies upon to demonise tobacco, also provides the same ‘irrefutable evidence’ that cannabis smoking is as damaging to human health as is smoking tobacco”.

“Could it be that the present government has gagged Sturgiss from speaking out against Tanczos and the Green Party’s push for partial decriminalisation of cannabis?”

“If Sturgiss remains silent about cannabis health risks, then it becomes blatantly obvious Labour is protecting any necessity for a future coalition deal with the Greens”.
