REVUP campaign fired up: HONK DAY tomorrow 8am

Since our REVUP campaign started, the Government has boosted the planned spend on Auckland’s transport by $330 million over four years, says Alasdair Thompson, chief executive of the Employers & Manufacturers Association (Northern).

“Auckland needs even more than this,” he said.

“Yesterday’s announcement of the extra $330 million takes the total to be invested in Auckland’s transport systems to $4.1 billion over 10 years.

“Auckland will soon need four times more than that, once all the transport projects required by 2020-25 are taken into account.

“HONK DAY tomorrow at 8am gives Auckland’s commuters a chance to vent their frustration with the traffic.

“Aucklanders should show they support faster transport work by sounding off on their horns this Friday at 8am because the only way well get a fair deal from Wellington is to make a noise the politicians can’t ignore.”
