No Arms Race at "Our Place"

Stop the Weapons Conference at Te Papa!

On 18th and 19th October 2005 the New Zealand Defence Industry Association is holding their annual conference at "Our Place," the National Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.

The weapons companies which will be showcased at this weapons conference are involved in the production of conventional weapons and support systems and have links to the nuclear weapons industry overseas. 'Our Place' is supporting the war industry by hiring out conference facilities to companies that profit from death and destruction.

According to the Museum of New Zealand Act of 1992 (Section 8c), Te Papa has a responsibility to ensure that the Museum is a source of pride for all New Zealanders (Section 8c). But how can we feel proud of an institution that hosts a weapons conference?
