3% increase in Red Shield Appeal

PRESS RELEASE

Donations to The Salvation Army Red Shield Street Appeal have reached the grand total of $636,608 Major David Bennett, Public Relations Secretary, says "a very big Thank you to all who have donated and also to all who have helped because without the support of willing volunteers and the generosity of New zealanders from all walks of life this appeal could not happen."

He went on to say, "This year the total appeal is already 3% up on 2005 so we are very pleased that the general public have shown their support for the work the Salvation Army is doing in the community".

With the changing environments and the increasing needs of People, the Salvation Army wil continue to endeavour to provide services that are adaptable to meet those needs whether they be various kinds of addictions, family relationships or financial needs

A breakdown of the Appeal to our Divisions are; Northern (Auckland) $195,820, Midland (Hamilton) $134868 Central (Wellington) $119885, Canterbury (Christchurch) $99,669, Southern (Dunedin) $65174 with a further $20,192 counted but to be allocated to specific Corps in a division (separate banking system e.g Queenstown, Gisborne, Taranaki).
