Grey power appalled at inmate's freeing

June 9 2006

Grey Power spokesperson for Law, Order and Justice, Mr Hamish Perry, is appalled with the "Correction Department's U-TURN" on freeing a violent inmate.

"It was galling enough for Grey Power members to learn that Warren Te-Hei, a very violent offender.was given compensation for allegedly being "tortured" by prison staff. What compensation did Te-HEi give HIS victoms when they were assaulted and threatened? Shouldn't his compensation go to them?."

"To learn yesterday that he is now enjoying a 'soft' life in a 'prison complex' is incomprehensible!."

Grey Power questions the the Correction Department's decision making process, which allows 'soft options" for those imates who have been sentenced on charges of violence to members of the public, as well as to that of injuring other inmates.

Grey Power's message to the Correction Department is "keep violent and dangerous inmates where they should be".
