NZ Green Building Council Board to be announced
The Establishment Board of the New Zealand Green Building Council will announce the Council's full board in late June, and the Council will be open for membership from 1 July.
The New Zealand Green Building Council will have a 12-person Board, with one representative each from the following categories: commercial property development; property investor/owner/manager; residential developer or major portfolio owner; owner occupier; corporate tenant/retail; building contractor; building product manufacturer and distributor; architect/draughtsman; engineers; property and construction professional; research and NGO; utilities/financial/legal/other.
Nominations for Board positions will close at 12 noon on 22 June.
Establishment CEO Jane Henley says there has been considerable interest from the property and construction industries in the formation of the Green Building Council.
"We are moving to this stage of development with strong support from all major stakeholder groups including members of the Property Council, Property Institute, NZIA, ACENZ, IPENZ, Master Builders and others."
Ms Henley praised the work of the Establishment Board in preparing the ground for the Council, a broad-based inclusive coalition of property and building industry representatives and Government.
"The hard work of the Establishment Board means the Council is in a good position to deliver a sustainable building assessment system for new commercial buildings by the end of this year."
A series of public presentations with a discussion panel of experts discussing sustainable building assessment system project recommendations will be held in Auckland, Wellington with video links to Dunedin and Christchurch on 21 and 22 June.
