New Website – A Link Home

Te Runanga o Ngati Ruanui have recently implemented a means of ensuring their people will always have a ‘link home’, irrespective of where, or how far away they may live. Most of the estimated 6,000 descendants of Ngati Ruanui live outside of their ancestral homeland of Taranaki.

Chairman Ngaonepu Kahukuranui is pleased to announce the launch of an official new website, www.ruanui.co.nz, a modern-day interpretation of whanaungatanga, designed “to improve communications across the world for all descendants of Ngati Ruanui.”

The website, which includes a page on the history of Ngati Ruanui descendants, also features “information about the runanga, panui, the latest news, photos and some cool links”, he explains. Additionally, the website provides an opportunity for descendants to register their tribal link online.

He sees the website as being a direct reflection of the runanga mission statement: “Te Runanga O Ngati Ruanui are committed to Ngati Ruanui wellness, and this will be achieved by taking a holistic approach to Ngati Ruanui cultural, social, education and economic wants, needs and aspirations.”

Suggestions or feedback can be submitted via the website. Check it out at www.ruanui.co.nz or call toll free on 0800 RUANUI (782 684)
