Nip-tuck for tourism research website
16 August 2006
The Ministry of Tourism research website (www.tourismresearch.govt.nz) has had an extreme makeover – and it just went live with its new look.
The revamped website reflects the current re-brand the Ministry is rolling out across all its communications material. It replaces the old website of the Tourism Research Council New Zealand (TRCNZ).
“We’ve had an exciting overhaul of our research website,” says Bruce Bassett, Research Manager for the Ministry of Tourism. “The TRCNZ was recently disbanded with its research strategy responsibilities vested within the newly formed Ministerial Advisory Group. This meant we had to re-brand our communications activities to ensure the industry understands that the Ministry of Tourism is the home of all tourism sector research statistics and forecasts."
While the new website contains the same material as the old TRCNZ site, including the ability to access free and detailed data, navigation will now be an easier and more pleasant experience for the user.
“It’s certainly a lot easier on the eye, and the front page is definitely more intuitive to navigate. We’ve got a great deal of information on the site, and we’ve put a lot of effort into making the homepage as user-friendly as possible,” says Mr Bassett.
