JCI Wellington meets New Zealand’s Youngest
MP
Delegates from the Wellington Chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI) visited Parliament yesterday and met Darren Hughes, Labour MP for Otaki and the youngest Member of Parliament.
JCI Wellington is a group for younger people aimed at encouraging leadership and entrepreneurialism. Yesterday’s event was arranged by JCI for its members and their guests to learn more about the Parliamentary process, and how to lobby MP’s for change.
After a visit to watch “Question Time” and a fascinating tour around the government buildings, JCI delegates were treated to a face-to-face meeting with Darren Hughes MP.
The informal and enlightening chat with Darren gave JCI members an insight into the weekly activities of an MP, as well as a great opportunity to ask questions to Darren regarding the political process.
JCI Wellington has a programme of events for members and the public, providing personal development, learning and networking activities. New for 2007 is “JCI Fight Club”: an opportunity for business owners and entrepreneurs to practice their ‘pitch’ and network with others. For more information see www.jci.wellington.net.nz.
