Last Chance To Free Thomas Yadegary Before Xmas –

We Need Your Support On Monday At The Auckland High Court At 9AM.

Thomas Yadegary appears on Monday 18th at 10am in the High Court (Corner of Symonds Street and Waterloo Quadrant) This is the last chance for him to be released so he doesn’t spend his third XMAS behind bars. His lawyers have filed a writ of habeas corpus, a judiciary review of the District Court decision to keep holding him and an application for bail. The judge is scheduled to make a decision after final submissions are made at 10am.

We need as many people as possible to join a protest at 9am outside the court and fill the courtroom at 10am. Please try to make it.

Thomas is an Iranian who has been held in prison since 1 November 2004 because he refuses to sign travel papers to be deported to Iran where his life will be at risk. Instead the government holds him hostage in jail. Thomas is supported by most MPs, The Green Party, Maori Party, National Party, United Future as well as groups like GPJA, Amnesty International, the Catholic Bishops etc.

This not Guantanemo Bay, a CIA rendering facility or a Stalag in Stalinist Russia – this is New Zealand where detention without trial is a breach of human rights. Come along on Monday and support Thomas.
