Resolve to make a difference this New Year
When the clock strikes midnight this New Years Eve, Kiwis all over New Zealand will be making resolutions for 2007 - must exercise more, must eat less, must be more charitable.
Those who are resolving to 'give something back', and want to make a real difference this New Year should consider sponsoring a child, says ChildFund National Director Paul Brown.
"New Year resolutions tend to be about self-improvement, but this year I urge New Zealanders to resolve to help others, by choosing to support a child in need.
"Tens of thousands of New Zealanders already sponsor a child through ChildFund, giving a small monthly donation - less than the cost of a flat white a day - and making a big difference in the life of a child in need."
Paul Brown says sponsoring a child is more than just donating money.
"Those who become child sponsors can choose to really engage with their sponsored child by sharing letters, photos and stories. Some long term sponsors even visit their child in their home country and learning more about the community they live in and how their financial support is making a practical difference to the life of the child and their family."
"We all make New Year resolutions to improve our own lives - why not make 2007 the year you resolved to improve the life of a needy child?
