Arrest of Matthew Fagan - Marlow family Statement

Media Statement from the immediate family (father, mother, sister and brother) of Catherine Marlow following the arrest of Matthew Fagan

It is with mixed emotions that our family received the news of the arrest yesterday. While nothing will bring Catherine back, finding who is responsible and as quickly as possible has always been our hope. In no way have we come to terms with Catherine's death. The arrest and court appearance while good news, has also brought with it the reality of the situation. As a family we are being well supported by good friends, a caring community and our memories of our much-loved and adored daughter and sister.

Catherine's brother, Brendan and brother in law are currently in the UK. They will represent our family at the memorial service to be held for Catherine but it appears highly unlikely that Brendan will have to assist the Metropolitan police in issuing a private press statement. We very much hope Catherine's body may soon be released so we can bring her home.

We would like to pay tribute to the UK Police, as they continue to keep our family up to date when more information comes to light.

We respect completely the job media have to do but we ask that you also respect our strong desire to stay out of the media. We do not wish to been interviewed in any form and have issued this statement in the hope our request for privacy will be acknowledged.
