ACC appoints General Manager Injury Prevention

Media Release
5 April 2007

ACC appoints General Manager Injury Prevention

Injuries affected over 1.7 million* New Zealanders and their families last year and reducing that number is a major goal of the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), New Zealand’s lead injury prevention agency.

“ACC is therefore delighted to announce that Katie Sadleir has been appointed its General Manager Injury Prevention, beginning 16 April. Katie is an experienced general manager, with an impressive background in sports sector management. She brings significant experience in strategy development, developing high performing teams and relationship management”, said Dr Jan White, Chief Executive, ACC.

“Injury prevention is a cornerstone of ACC’s work and I cannot emphasise enough how important Katie’s role is. As well as driving ACC’s own injury prevention work Katie will play an important role in cross-government initiatives and in driving our relationships with the private sector and non-government organisations (NGOs)”, Dr White said.

ACC is also committed to developing injury prevention strategies tailored to meet the specific needs of Maori, Pacific and Asian peoples.

Katie will lead a team of about 130 injury prevention specialists, who work across all injury areas - workplace, road, home, sport etc.

* claims accepted by ACC in 2005/06.
