‘Luddite Cleric Brian Tamaki Supports Hollow Prayer’

“By their fruit ye shall know them” a quotation of Jesus Christ’s natural theology that according to Hamilton Mayoral candidate Tim Wikiriwhi exposes Brian Tamaki as a religious zealot despite repeated claims to not seeking to wield political power as an instrument of religious oppression.

Mr Wikiriwhi, a Libertarian Independent and stalwart Christian said “Actions speak louder than words and it is clear that Tamaki has entered politics for the express purpose of halting all reform and instead imposing his own personal Cult upon Sinners, Heretics and Infidels”.

He said that no doubt Brian thinks he was doing Gods work by protesting Prime Minister Helen Clarks’ declaration of New Zealand’s religious neutrality at Waitangi this week, but said that good will was no justification for insisting Christianity be declared New Zealand’s official religion. He said ‘Official Christianity’ is oxymoronic.

Tamaki’s statement that Helen Clark did not need to deny more than150 years of Christian heritage to proclaim New Zealand’s religious freedom was reversed by Mr Wikiriwhi saying our undeniable Christian heritage was no way threatened by Helen Clark proclaiming New Zealand has no state religion. This declaration was in itself a testament to the glory of our nation’s Christian heritage that stands without need of political endorsement.

“Destiny’s latest Press release opposing the abolishment of prayer at the opening of parliament demonstrates yet further poor judgment as the prayer is nothing more than hollow ritualism devoid of spirit, and abolishment will not stop genuine prayers being offered by genuine Christians.”

Mr Wikiriwhi said this reform is needed to lead the way to the removal of Maori ritualism from state institutions which are also a perversion of State neutrality.

“Taking these pompous gestures away correctly diminishes the awe of politics. It would remove hypocrisy and improve the dignity of both Christianity and Maori culture by divorcing them from artificiality and oppressive imposition.

It will take away opportunity for pretentious piety and feigned cultural sensitivity by politicians who use such displays to fool gullible voters.”

He deems little of Brian Tamaki’s political agenda has any semblance to the proper methods of the dissemination Christianity .

Mr Wikiriwhi satirically remarked “Tamaki calls himself a Bishop today, it will be Pontifex Maximus tomorrow!”
