Spotless Outlines Wage Offer - Calls for Strike Withdrawal and Bargaining
Spotless Services has outlined a wage offer to the SFWU that would involve all current Spotless Services staff receiving wages at least as high as those recently agreed for DHB staff. In order to negotiate the detail of the agreement, Spotless has requested the SFWU withdraw all its strike notices and returns to the bargaining table.
"Spotless has always been committed to passing on to its staff every cent of funding granted by the DHBs. This offer realises that commitment and the undertaking Spotless made at mediation on Sunday night to develop a wage offer," said Spotless Services General Manager, Healthcare, Mark Russell.
"We believe this offer satisfies all the SFWU's concerns around wage levels.
"Our proposal means that the same base rate, penal rates and overtime rates as paid by the DHBs will be paid to all current Spotless staff, with the opportunity for some to receive more.
"Our offer also includes a simple, targeted link between pay and competencies for new employees and senior staff - which we believe is very important for developing skills and leadership qualities," said Russell.
Spotless has asked the SFWU to withdraw from the disruptive hospital strikes scheduled to begin tomorrow morning so that bargaining can begin around the detail of the wage agreement.
"Spotless has contingencies in place to best manage during the strikes scheduled for tomorrow - but we are very hopeful, having outlined this offer, the SFWU will see better than to put its members and the hospital sector through an unnecessary strike," said Russell
