Age Concern welcomes SuperGold Card
"Grab this opportunity" is Age Concern New Zealand's message to businesses that are considering offering SuperGold Card discounts to older people.
"Age Concern is delighted that SuperGold Card is here,"says Age Concern New Zealand chief executive Ann Martin. "We're pleased with the discounts and concessions already offered and hope to see more.
"The great majority of older people live on National Super and very little else. They're on fixed incomes and they can't easily make up for all the price increases they've been hit with recently. We hope that SuperGold Card discounts will provide help."
"Offering discounts through SuperGold Card is good for older people and it's good for business. There is more than half-a-million people aged 65 and over out there. They're active consumers and many are keen bargain hunters. It's useful to be able to see all the assistance available to older people listed in the discount directory.
"It's good that older people's contributions to our communities and New Zealand's economy are being recognised.
"We commend the companies and local authorities which are offering discounts right from Day 1 and we urge more to take this opportunity as quickly as possible.
"Older people are particularly worried about food, communications, energy and house maintenance and transport so we hope to see meaningful discounts and government concessions in these fields," Ann Martin says.
