Media Release:
Labour activists to join protest at
Labour Party Conference today
Supporters
of the campaign for "no terror laws" will protest outside
the Labour Party conference on Auckland's North Shore this
morning from 9am. (Bruce Mason Centre in Hurstmere Road,
Takapuna)
The protest will be calling for the repeal of the Terrorism Suppression Act of 2002 and its various offshoots which have resulted in drastically increased powers of surveillance for the police and Security Intelligence Service as well as big increases in resourcing.
These are George Bush's laws imposed on New Zealand by the Labour government.
Labour Party activists will be joining the protest with at least one member of Labour's Maori Policy Council scheduled to join the protest and address the crowd.
Families of those detained in the police para-military raids will be joining the protest as well as Tuhoe whanau in Auckland to support those arrested from their community.
