Families Best Placed To Spark Their Children’s
Dreams
Jigsaw CEO Strategic Operations, Liz Kinley says that while community organisations like Jigsaw will always be here to provide support and help with parenting issues, it is families themselves who are best placed to spark their children’s dreams.
“Between July 2006 and June 2007 Jigsaw’s 24 member agencies worked with over 6500 families helping them to raise their children in ways that enabled them to thrive and we are here to do the same in 2008. Whether there was violence in their homes, or parents wanting some positive parenting advice, our local Jigsaw agencies were always there in their local community, offering help and support in the way that best met the particular needs of each family and their children.
As Children’s Day comes along again this Sunday, Jigsaw’s intention is always to help families put together what’s best for their children. Jigsaw’s role is to help parents and families to find ways to spark their children’s dreams so they can help them to grow up with confidence and security and be well prepared for a fully and happy life ahead.
Children’s Day is a day when we all acknowledge how important and valued our children are. It is a time when as adult family members, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunties or cousins, we can focus on finding as many ways as possible to spark the dreams of our children and young people, helping them to grow up free from harm, supported and cherished by the adults around them.
Let’s all mark Children’s Day this year by taking responsibility for sparking the dreams of our children. Let’s make 2008 a year when we celebrate the demonstrated commitment we have to nurturing all our children. Let’s ensure that we don’t ever again repeat the tragic child abuse statistics of 2007.”
