Strategic Assets is not a board game

Economic spokesman for the Republic of New Zealand Party Mr Kerry Bevin, says "Both Cullen and Key have let New Zealand Down with there respective positions around the Canadian Bid for Auckland Airport."

The Republic of New Zealand Party made its position clear when foreign interest was first expressed in the airport and our position has not changed. It is a strategic asset and it is not for sale to foreign ownership.

Instead of making the Governments position clear, Mr Cullen has resorted to last minute sabotage of a foreign investment offer. This did not only undermine our markets, but undermined our international credibility.

Likewise Nationals Leader is unconcerned that one of our key strategic assets should be put at risk through foreign ownership.

We are still bring plagued by Ceeping Rogernomics, says Mr Bevin, because our two major political parties will not take clear positions on National Assets.

The Republic of New Zealand Party plans to protect strategic assets, and we have previously proposed that a register of National and Strategic assets be included in our constitution, so there is clarity around what is and is not for sale, and no misunderstandings around foreign investment.
