Labour Party is responsible for Operation 8
Media Release: Labour Party is responsible for Operation
8

'October 15th Solidarity' is organising a protest against the Labour Party Congress on Saturday, 12th April at 12 noon starting at Te Aro Park (between Dixon St and Manners St).
Helen Clark, Annette King and Michael Cullen, who will all be attending the annual Labour Party conference in Wellington this weekend, bear direct responsibility for the Police and Security Intelligence Service attacks on Tuhoe and other activists targeted in the nation-wide raids on 15th October 2007.
“We hold the Labour Party responsible for Operation 8, for the invasion of Ruatoki and for one of the biggest land confiscations in recent history - the foreshore and seabed legislation” says Peter Steiner, a member of 'October 15th Solidarity'.
“Labour is also responsible for the passing of all so called ‘anti-terrorism’ legislation, giving police greater powers to spy on political activists, as has happened on a large scale during operation 8.”
“Our protest on Saturday is specifically aimed at holding the government responsible for the raids. However, we invite people with a range of issues - workers rights, environmental destruction, youth oppression, Tino Rangatiratanga groups, immigrants, women's groups - to come along to disrupt the Labour Party's party.”
