Lord Ashcroft, Whose Reward Led to the Recovery of New Zealand's Stolen Medals, is to Visit the Recovered Medals in Auckland Next Monday
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND--(Marketwire - April 11, 2008) - Lord Ashcroft, the man who offered the reward which led to the recovery of the medals stolen in December from the Waiouru Army Museum is visiting Auckland next Monday, April 14th to view the returned medals, and to meet Willie Apiata VC.

96 medals were stolen, including nine Victoria Crosses. Since 1856, the Victoria Cross has been the Commonwealth's most prestigious military medal. Since its inception, only 1,351 medals have been awarded. For twenty years, Michael Ashcroft has collected such medals, and is responsible for the largest privately formed collection in the world. The Ashcroft Collection contains more than 10% of all VC's ever conferred.
