Low tax cuts because money being wasted!

Low tax cuts because money being wasted! The Kiwi Party
Press Release
May 23,2008
This weeks’ budget revealed only a small reduction in tax for Kiwis under pressure with higher costs of food and petrol said the Kiwi Party.

Michael Cullen claimed he had to be fiscally prudent, yet the Hon Winston Peters proudly announced that he had secured an additional $9m for prize money for horse racing.

While in Nelson preparing for the Kiwi Party’s 6th regional conference in six months the Party leader Larry Baldock said he was disgusted that money was being spent in this way.

“Now forgive me for being a little stingy, but why are hard working Kiwi taxpayers subsidizing the racing industry? If there are not enough people willing to put their own money into the TAB to pay for the prize money why are our taxes being used for such a purpose,” said Mr Baldock.
“Nine million dollars would buy a lot of hip replacements or help alleviate the additional educational costs for parents struggling to make ends meet,” he said.
