That's a Match-Winner, Brian!

SOLO-NZ Press Release:

That's a Match-Winner, Brian!

August 27, 2008

Ex-All Blacks Coach Sir Brian Lochore has scored and converted a match-winning polemical try with his speech warning that Political Correctness is destroying New Zealand, says SOLO Principal Lindsay Perigo.

Sir Brian coached the All Blacks to their 1987 Rugby World Cup victory in 1987 — a feat they've not been able to replicate since as they fell into the clutches of counsellors, "sports psychologists" and other eunuchs who sought to envelop players in bubble-wrap.

At a conference of parental lobby group Parents Inc, Sir Brian said:

"We are living in a PC world which is destroying us, where you actually can't put the hard word on people when they have digressed and committed bad blunders.

"One of the advantages of being a farmer is that I was able to work with my children. You can take them on the back of your motorbike, which you're not supposed to do any more.

"You can take them on your horse, which you're not supposed to do any more."

He recalled taking his daughters to a rugby game at three weeks old, and that they played in the mud while their dad downed a jug in the bar after a game. As a coach, he told the All Blacks they could do anything they liked off the field as long as they didn't annoy anyone or break anything.

"Contrast this to the situation now where the All Blacks are required to be virtual teetotallers," says Perigo. "If they over-indulge, they have to weep copiously on television and confess their failings as 'role-models.'

"Sir Brian didn't mention the most ominous aspect of Political Correctness — the shutting down of free speech in order that everyone might go through life never having his or her feelings hurt.

"But his words may just be sufficient to galvanise voters who still value their freedom to throw out the current regime of ugly wimmin who want to take it away," Perigo concludes.
