Bidvest New Zealand Announced As A National Sponsor For Project K

The Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) is pleased to announce Bidvest New Zealand, a leading international foodservice distributor as a national sponsor for FYD’s flagship programme, Project K.

Project K is targeted at Year 10 students (4th form) and aims to maximise youth potential through a 14 month programme which involves a Wilderness Adventure, Community Challenge and 12 months of mentoring.

Nigel Boswell, Bidvest New Zealand Managing Director recently handed over a cheque for $13,500 to Lani French, Project National Manager and Graeme Dingle, FYD Co-founder, to kick start the partnership.

This financial support has already helped significantly in the establishment of Project K in Marlborough, with students due to start on the 14-month programme in September.

In addition to the donation, Project K has been aligned with Bidvest New Zealand’s leading house brand ‘Smart Choice’. A percentage of sales from Smart Choice products sold per annum will be donated to the programme.

Boswell says, “We are thrilled to be associated with a programme that is doing such great things for New Zealand youth and we will be following the Project K Marlborough students through the programme with great interest.”

As part of the partnership Bidvest New Zealand employees have also been offered the opportunity to directly engage in the programme through Project K mentor training.
